The Smeared Pixels collection is a deliberate exploration of Digital Abstraction that takes the fundamental unit of digital imagery—the pixel—and subjects it to processes of distortion, elongation, and chromatic diffusion. It focuses on texture, color, and the breakdown of form, celebrating the glitch, the artifact, and the beautiful accident as aesthetic principles. Created through generative art systems and AI/machine learning models trained to manipulate and degrade digital information, the work exists firmly in the realm of conceptual digital practice. It questions digital perfection by intentionally introducing noise, blur, and data corruption as expressive tools. While non-representational, the collection often suggests emergent figurative/portrait forms or landscape-like vistas rising from the chromatic haze—a ghost in the machine of distorted data. The aesthetic can incorporate the vibrant, high-contrast palette of graphic/pop, yet its core is a minimalist focus on the pixel itself as both subject and medium. Though purely digital, it engages with post-photography by depicting a reality born from the manipulation of underlying code, not light.
